Sprout waving in front of the colony on Veyra. SPROUT COLONY.
Playtest build
Veyra · Colony Program

One small robot. One hostile world.

Earth is gone. You are SPROUT, the Surface Pioneer Robot for Outpost Utility and Terraforming. Drop to the surface of Veyra, mine what the planet gives you, and build the colony the colonists are waiting for.

Mine, refine, craft

Laser the ore, carry it home, refine Colony alloy and Advanced alloy, and upgrade Sprout at the Upgrade station.

Modular base building

Walls, floors, roofs, stairs, lifts and Octo habs that snap together. Place everything from Sprout's view, with a free placement camera for the tricky spots.

Worker bots

Build a Bot Bay, fabricate workers and assign each one a resource. They mine, haul to storage, and dock to recharge.

Storms and meteors

Red lightning leaves Magmacite behind. Meteor showers hammer your base. Plasma turrets and an orbital defense keep it standing.

Grow a living colony

Hydroponic domes, hopper pens, water systems and refrigerated stores. Stock the colony, call the ship and land the colonists.

Arcade cabinets

Research the Entertainment pack and play Sprout Invaders and Super Sprout Bot on cabinets in your own habitat.

The build is private while it's in testing. Enter the code I sent you to unlock the downloads.

How to install on Mac
  1. Open the .dmg and drag Sprout Colony into Applications.
  2. The build is not signed yet, so macOS will block the first launch. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway.
  3. Apple Silicon (M1 and newer) only for now. Intel Macs should use the browser version.
How to install on Windows
  1. Run the installer. If Windows SmartScreen warns you, choose More info → Run anyway.
  2. Launch Sprout Colony from the Start menu. Press F11 for fullscreen.
System requirements
  • A computer with a real graphics card (integrated GPUs work at reduced settings).
  • About 1 GB of free disk space.
  • Keyboard and mouse, or a controller (PS5 layout is the reference).
  • The game adjusts its resolution on the fly. Low on frames? Turn effects off in Settings → Graphics.
Progression

Earn it. Research it. Build it.

Finish colonist missions and contracts to earn technology points. Spend them at the command station, wait for the colony ship to transmit the plans, then unlock upgrades, base pieces and buildings. Five branches, and the late upgrades are worth working for.

Help me make it better

You are playing an early build. The most useful thing you can do is play it the way you want to, and tell me where it got confusing, slow or broken.

What to watch for
  1. The first 20 minutes. Did the tutorial make sense? Where did you get stuck?
  2. Menus. Could you find things without being told? Controller players, did anything need the keyboard?
  3. Performance. Note your computer, and when the frame rate drops.
  4. Bugs. Anything stuck, floating, invisible or crashing. A screenshot helps a lot.

Protect your save

Saves live on your computer, in the app's own data folder or in your browser. Back them up before updating.

  1. Open the pause menu → Saved games → Backup.
  2. Choose Export file to download a .sproutsave file.
  3. On a new build or computer, use Import save file from the main menu.
Browser and desktop versions keep separate saves. Move a colony between them with Export and Import.
Questions

FAQ

Is it finished?

No. This is a playtest build, so things will change, break and get rebalanced.

Will my progress carry over to new builds?

I try to keep saves compatible, but export a backup before every update to be safe.

Does it work offline?

The desktop app does. The browser version needs to load once first.

Does it support controllers?

Yes. Every function is designed to work on a controller alone, with PS5 button labels as the reference.

Can I share it?

Please keep this build within the playtest group for now. Screenshots and clips are welcome.
